In April 2014, UNV deployed 8 National UN Volunteers ICT Experts to 5 regions
of Nepal as part of LGCDP II. Nepal’s First National LGBTI
Community Dialogue, part of the Asia-Pacific regional initiative ‘Being LGBT in Asia’ was held in Kathmandu and organized and lead by National UN Volunteer, Bharat Shrestha. Ms. Shoko Noda and Honorable Minister, Ministry of Health and Population, Mr. Khaga Raj Adhikari were among the honorable guest speakers. In May, UNV Executive Coordinator,
Mr. Richard Dictus and UNV Portfolio Manager, Ms. Yvonne Maharoof-
Marathovouniotis visited Nepal on their 2 days mission. The schedule included
a field trip to Kavre and meetings with the UN Resident Coordinator, high level government officials, UN Country Team, Ambassadors, and Heads of Volunteer Involving Organizations (VIOs).
