The media in Nepal plays a vital role in helping the country amount an effective response to HIV and AIDS. In the absence of cure, education remains to be the strongest ammunition against the virus. Many media organizations are rising to the challenge by promoting awareness program on HIV/AIDS and educating listeners, readers and viewers about the facts of the epidemic and how it could be halted. Media organizations have a strong in sequence and tremendous reach in educating and empowering individuals to avoid contracting HIV. doing so with maximum effectiveness, however, requires a clear understanding of the challenges and the obstacles in HIV prevention education. Recognizing this, the Asia Pacific" leadership(ALF) on HIV/AIDS, Media Panel in Nepal Initiated the development of this manual entitled understanding HIV/AIDS, a Handbook for Media Personnel. It is a simple, easy-to-read Handbook and it is envisaged that media personnel in Nepal will use this to be able to play their role more effectively and responsibly.
