The United Nations Mission in Nepal deeply regrets the loss of life of two Nepali people in an accident involving an UNMIN vehicle yesterday in the Far-Western region. UNMIN expresses its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.At approximately 4.40pm Sunday, 30 September, an UNMIN vehicle transporting members
of UN verification teams was involved in an accident with three pedestrians, 16 kilometres from Dhangadhi. Bir Bahadur Chaudhary, 48, of Phulbari VDC, Kailali district and Laxmi Chaudhary, 18, of Baisebichhuwa, Kanchanpur district, died as a result of the accident. In addition, Aspati Chaudhary, 19, was seriously injured and taken to Seti Zonal Hospital in Dhangadhi. UNMIN medical staff met with doctors last night at the hospital, and with the family, and UNMIN will support the family in ensuring that the medical needs of Aspati Chaudhary are fully met.
