Malnutrition rates in Nepal are among the highest in the world. More than half of the children under five are stunted, and more than 45 percent are underweight.
The nutrition status of the population not only reveals much about their history to date but also reflects its future potential and health status. A baby born to a mother who is undernourished will likely have a low birth weight. If the infant survives, her growth will more likely falter.
