As I think you know, I went to New York in order to report to the Secretary-General Kofi Annan, probably my last opportunity before completes his term on the 31st of December, and also to brief the Security Council as it considers recommendations and proposals the Secretary-General had put to the Council in the letter that I think most of you will have seen. And then to take part in New York in planning the next steps to follow for the UN. I am pleased to say that there was absolutely unanimou support from all 15 members of the Security Council for the Secretary-General’s intention to respond to the request from the parties for support to the peace process.
