Retail prices of food commodities monitored in various markets across the country showed an upward trend in July 2013 due to the lean season and the interruption in supplies from frequent disruption of regional highways linking to the Hills and Mountains as a result of monsoon rains.
As per the latest report released by the Nepal Rastra Bank, the national inflation rate in July 2013 remained at 7.8 percent, while the price index of the cereal grains sub-group was 11.8 percent relative to 4.3 percent over the same period last year.
