Rice and wheat prices are still high and have been rising in recent months. Political tension continues as vulnerable people continue to suffer from the effects of the monsoon rain. An estimated 3.6 million people are food insecure and overall the food security situation is predicted to remain tight. The government is committed in supporting agriculture and food security, but the political situation has constrained efforts.
