Livestock and dairy upgrades raise incomes and help Nepal’s food security
PDF File Size: 143 KB | Download
Nepal’s small-scale dairy sector has improved the quality and safety of milk products all along the food chain, bolstering food security in the mountainous landlocked country. An FAO technical cooperation project trained Nepal’s dairy sector workers to produce high-quality, pasteurized milk and traditional dairy products such as khowa, dahi and paneer. The Community Livestock Project succeeded in reducing poverty among the rural poor by introducing a number of interrelated, socially inclusive development projects that stimulated food security.
