The objectives of the project is as follows:
1. The project was originally designed to contribute to employment creation and income generation in the rural areas of five development regions of Nepal. However, the Government decided to concentrate project activities in the Far Western Development Region (FWDR) where the objectives were, in general, achieved.
2. The project was to create within the Department of Cottage and Village Industries (DCVI) the capacity to plan, design, implement and follow up rural vocational training programmes directly related to employment and income-generation opportunities at village level. This objective was likewise achieved in the FWDR.
