The epidemic of HIV/AIDS in the country is growing constantly to that extent that it is estimated that there are about 60,00 HIV infected with 31 person being infected daily. The study has revealed that major cause in the spread of HIV is due to increase in sex trade and increase in injecting drug users and the people having those kind of risky behavior are considered the most vulnerable for HIV infections.Unless and until people became fully aware, motivated and encouraged to change their risky behaviors, the number of HIV infection keep on increasing. Only providing knowledge on HIV/AIDS may not be sufficient to prevent people from the infection so along with that constant motivation and access to information and services need to be incorporated. Unless people are self motivated to change their behave positively, HIV infection will be on the rise.
The data collected from the respondents of two companies have been unbiased as the questionnaire were administered by trained peer educators and supervised constantly by supervisors. In order to have information more systematically, the questionnaire was divided into different section like personal information of the respondents, their knowledge on STI, HIV/AIDS, condom and lastly their sexual behavior. More than 80% of the respondents had heard about STI and were familiar with information on the symptoms, preventive measures, effect of untreated STDs. In almost all, there was sound difference between the baseline and evaluation data clearly indicating the positive impact of the program.STI Descriptions, HIV/AIDS Descriptions, Condom Descriptions, Sexual Behavior Descriptions.
