Regional Tripartite Workshop on Social Dimensions of Economic Reforms in Asia
PDF File Size: 1.02 MB | Download
The National Planning Commission Secretariat and the Ministry of Labour,His Majesty's Government of Nepal, collaborated with the ILO-ARTEP in organising the workshop which was attended by the representatives of governments, workers organisations and employers' organisations from eight countries, five resource persons and eight ILO officials. A full list of the participants and a detailed agenda of the workshop are appended. The particular focus of the workshop was on the consequences of the economic reforms for employment, labour protection systems, industrial relations and poverty as also on policies needed to cope with these consequences. A workshop of this type cannot be expected to come up with a set of generally agreed policy recommendations and this was not the objective of the workshop. It had more modest objectives : to create an awareness of the problems and issues involved, to compare the experiences of different countries and to initiate a process of thinking about concrete policies.
