Environmental Impact Assessment of Industrial Development Around Lumbini, the Birthplace of Lord Buddha, World Heritage Property
PDF File Size: 306 KB | Download
Lumbini was inscribed onto the World Heritage List in 1997 as the birthplace of the Lord Buddha which is testified by an inscription on the Ashoka Pillar. This sacred area in Lumbini is one of the most holy and significant places for one of the world’s great religions. The archaeological remains of the Buddhist viharas and stupas, from the third century BCE to the fifteenth century CE, provide important evidence about the nature of Buddhist pilgrimage centres from a very early period.
