Land use refers to the interaction between human activities and the Earth’s surface, managed according to land capacity. In Nepal, land use planning plays a critical role in ensuring sustainable utilization of limited land resources to meet growing demands for agriculture, housing, and infrastructure while maintaining ecological balance. It involves systematic classification of land, inter-agency coordination, and decision-making to promote environmentally friendly and equitable development. By addressing physical, social, economic, and legal challenges, land use planning in Nepal aims to create an enabling environment for sustainable growth and resource management.
