Political rallies and mass meetings are taking place across the country despite COVID-19 risk. There is growing tendency among agitating political groups to ignore COVID-19 safety protocols, such as mask-wearing and physical distancing. This reduced compliance with safety protocols is speculated to be in part attributed to the increased mass gatherings and rallies, in which leaders do not model COVID-19 safety behaviours, as well as a decline in reported COVID-19 cases and fatalities.
