PDF File Size: 1.82 MB | Download
This report summarizes the findings from a survey carried out by the 'Media Ser
vices International' (MSI) on behalf of UNICEF Nepal. A total of 1400 teenagers
randomly selected from across Nepal’s five development regions were interviewed and their answers were analyzed. Questions were asked to ascertain teenagers’ abilities to cope with daily issues and changes experienced in adolescence. The answers from respondents were presented in this report under two main sections. The first part focuses on life skills by looking at teenagers’ psycho-social competence: self-awareness, communication and interpersonal relationships, decision-making and problem solving. The second part attempts to find out how much teenagers know about HIV/AIDS, their attitude towards premarital sex, sexual behaviour and their preferred way to learn about sex. It also asks questions on alcohol consumption and drug abuse. Additionally, questions about media habits were included to assist UNICEF in planning an effective communication strategy.
