PDF File Size: 671 KB | Download
World Food Programme (WFP) Nepal and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD) have produced mVAM market update on the impact of COVID-19 on market situation and the prices of essential commodities across 67 districts.

Highlights of mVAM household survey on the impact of COVID-19 include:

• Retail prices of food staples remained relatively stable, while prices of meat and dairy increased marginally and there was a sharp increase in fruit and vegetable prices.
• Functioning of markets continued to improve, particularly in terms supply, demand, transportation and labour market.
• The agricultural lean season and monsoon-induced supply restriction combined with the COVID-19 related movement restrictions contributed to the overall price increase and reported insufficiency of commodities in markets in parts of the country.
