Nepal: A Perilous Mountain Journey to Deliver WFP Food
Aftershocks, landslides and monsoon rains are the challenges WFP faces in reaching remote communities with food in Nepal's high-altitude areas. The Larke Pass - situated at 5,000 metres above sea level - is home to the treacherous nine-day journey of delivering WFP food, on the backs of mules. This is the only way to reach people living in these areas.
Meet WFP's Remote Access Team, the ones in charge of organizing deliveries along this perilous route.
