The "Country Gender Assessment for agriculture and rural sector in Nepal" has been designed to inform the FAO’s gender-sensitive country-level planning and programming to the national and international stakeholders. The primary target audience of the publication include the Government agencies at policy making and implementation levels, development agencies and the field level development workers. The Assessment highlights gender-biased gaps at
policy and legislative levels. Findings of the Assessment indicate that government policy is limited to meeting targets of women’s participation in programmes and projects rather than addressing the root causes of gender inequalities in agriculture and the wider rural economy.
