‘Gender Mapping in the Field of Elections’ is a pioneering step towards promoting gender equality in the field of elections in Nepal, identifying gender gaps in the electoral processes and the election management body, as well as providing recommendations towards addressing these gaps. This mapping report places an emphasis on mainstreaming gender equality in the different steps of the electoral cycle, as well as ensuring gender specific institutional strategies and policies. This mapping exercise is particularly timely,as the Election Commission Nepal is actively engaged in promoting more democratic and inclusive elections and undertaking many initiatives in the process. The findings of this exercise are expected to enhance the effectiveness of the electoral initiatives in Nepal.
