एल्के विस युनिसेफ नेपालको नयाँ प्रतिनिधी

युनिसेफले नेपालका लागि युनिसेफको नयाँ प्रतिनिधीको रुपमा एल्के विसलाई स्वागत गरेको छ । विस बालबालिका र महिलाको अधिकारको क्षेत्रमा लामो अनुभव भएकी जर्मन नागरिक हुनुुहन्छ ।

‘म लामो समयदेखि नेपाल आउन चाहन्थे’, विसले भन्नुभयो । ‘म यो सुन्दर देशमा आउन र नेपालका बालबालिका र महिलाको सेवा गर्ने अवसर पाउँदा निकै खुसी छु ।’

विगत २३ वर्षमा विसले विभिन्न खालका विकासकालीन, संक्रमणकालीन र आपतकालीन परिवेशमा बालबालिका, महिला र उनीहरुको समुदायको जीवन सुधार्नका लागि काम गर्नुभएको छ । विस सन् १९९६ मा रुवाण्डामा बाल संरक्षण अधिकृतको रुपमा युनिसेफमा प्रवेश गर्नुभएको थियो र त्यसपछि लाइबेरियामा बाल संरक्षण प्रमुखको रुपमा काम गर्नुभएको थियो । सन् १९९९ र २००१ को बीचमा उहाँले कोसोभोको आपतकालीन अवस्थामा कार्यक्रम संयोजक र एफवाइआर म्यासेडोनियाको नायव प्रतिनिधीको रुपमा बाल्कन क्षेत्रमा काम गर्नुभएको थियो । सन् २००३ देखि २००७ मा म्यानमारमा युनिसेफको नायव प्रतिनिधीको रुपमा काम गर्नुअघि विसले सन् २००१ देखि २००३ सम्म अफगानिस्तानको आपतकालीन कार्यसञ्चालनको समयमा आपतकालीन संयोजन र बाल संरक्षणका क्षेत्रमा वरिष्ठ पदहरु सम्हाल्नुभएको थियो ।

सन् २००८ मा, विसले उत्तरी युगाण्डामा संयुक्त राष्ट्रसंघीय देशीय टोलीका लागि वरिष्ठ शान्ति स्थापना तथा पुनर्लाभ संयोजकको रुपमा काम गर्नुभयो भने सन् २००९ देखि २०१४ सम्म पूर्वी तथा दक्षिणी अफ्रिका क्षेत्रका लागि युनिसेफको नायव क्षेत्रीय निर्देशकको रुपमा काम गर्नुभयो । सन् २०१४ मा उहाँ मेडागास्करका लागि युनिसेफको प्रतिनिधीको रुपमा नियुक्त हुनुभयो (उहाँले चार वर्षसम्म यो पदमा काम गर्नुभयो) । नेपालका लागि प्रतिनिधीको पदमा काम शुरु गर्नुअघि अगस्त २०१८ देखि विसले युनिसेफको दक्षिण एसियाली क्षेत्रीय कार्यालयमा कायममुकायम नायव क्षेत्रीय निर्देशकको रुपमा काम गर्नुभयो ।

विसले म्युनिख विश्वविद्यालयबाट सामाजिक तथा राजनीतिशास्त्रमा स्नातकोत्तर र हार्वर्ड विश्वविद्यालयको केनेडी स्कूल अफ गभर्मेन्टबाट जनप्रशासनमा स्नातकोत्तर गर्नुभएको छ । युनिसेफमा आवद्ध हुनुअघि, विसले जर्मनी र संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिकाका विभिन्न द्वन्द्व समाधान संस्थाहरु र शिक्षण संस्थाहरुमा काम गर्नुभएको थियो ।
