The mini survey is a biannual multiple nutrition indicator surveillance system conducted after each
round of the National Vitamin A Supplementation Program. It was initiated in 1994 with the objective
of monitoring and estimating vitamin A capsule coverage. Over the years, there has been a gradual
increase in the number of indicators monitored. Currently, the mini-survey has the main objective of
estimating the coverage of vitamin A capsule (including post-partum vitamin A), de-worming tablet in
children and pregnant women, iron tablet in pregnant women and the use of packet salt with a
government endorsed 2-child logo depicting adequate iodine content.
