Brief of UN Digital Library in Nepal

The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) is the principal source of information about the United Nations system in Nepal since 1964. The information centre is responsible for promoting public understanding and support for the aims and activities of the United Nations by disseminating UN information materials to a local audience in English, Nepali and other languages utilised in the region; engaging local and regional partners; and, overall, bringing the United Nations closer to the people it serves.

UN Search Engine in Nepal -- known as the United Nations Digital Library in Nepal, is the first of its kind in Nepal and follows an extensive process known as Knowledge Management to collect, develop and share the wealth of data available. An online repository is an ideal and sustainable way to preserve the growing volume of publications produced by UN agencies each year and ensure efficient accessibility without cost to everyone from anywhere. Mobile application, “UN Digital Library in Nepal”, is parallel module of the digital library with full text to make the effective search on UN public information more intuitive and handy.
