Achieving Literacy for All : NFE-MIS Report 2013-14
Abstract:
Ensuring quality of education through both formal and non-formal provisions of education has been the most crucial challenge towards achieving the Education for All (EFA) goals in Nepal. This Report is an attempt to establish and strengthen an integrated Education Management Information System (I-EMIS) with adequate information regarding both formal and non-formal education, including literacy. In order to design this system, it is essential to develop, promote and sustain a Non-formal Education Management Information System (NFE-MIS). NFE-MIS aims to assist in monitoring and evaluation of the overall development of NFE and literacy for all in Nepal. The NFE-MIS endeavors to provide information about learners, which is appropriate/suitable and useful for studies in order to assess how their acquired knowledge and skills are used, and have impacted upon their quality of life. The major programmes of NFE included adult literacy, alternative schooling, IG and skill development training programmes in six districts of Nepal. It is important to acknowledge non-formal education as an essential part of the educational process and recognize the contribution that is made by non- formal educational organizations.
