Abstract:
UNIC, Kathmandu celebrated International Observance of the Day of Vesak on 25 May 2013 in the UN House in association with the International Institute of Buddhist Studies Nepal. The function was addressed by the UN Resident Coordinator a.i. and UNIC Director Terence D. Jones, the Sri Lankan‘s Ambassador, Chairperson of the International Institute of Buddhist Studies Nepa Prem Lal Chitrakar and leading Nepalese Monks and Nuns. Mr. Jones highlighted the significance of the Day from UN‘s perspective and conveyed UN Secretary-General Mr. Ban Kimoon‘s message to the audience.
