PDF File Size: 1.33 MB | Download
Abstract:
The Armed Violence Reduction and Community Security (AVRSCS) Project is jointly developed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The project aims to help bring measurable reduction in the cases of armed violence by strengthening the Government’s capacity and coordination to develop evidence based programs and tactics to reduce armed violence as well as supporting community security initiatives in 9 Terai districts. The Priority 1 (P1) project of the Government of Nepal led by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) aims at strengthening the capacity of national institutions to collect, monitor and analyze crime and violence data to inform preventive policing and development programming. The project also aims to extend necessary policy and material support for the effective control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) and work towards strengthening government led coordination to reduce armed violence. The project’s overarching awareness raising strategy focuses on raising awareness on the reduction of armed violence, gender based violence (GBV) and youth violence while supporting gender responsive and conflict sensitive community security planning and implementation at the districts and VDC clusters.
