भ्रमणको मुख्य उद्देश्य सन २००७ मा संयुक्त राष्ट्रसघको अगुवाईमा सम्पन्न प्रमाणीकरण प्रक्रियामा नाबालिगका रुपमा प्रमाणीत माओवादी सेनाका करिव ३००० जना सदस्यको बिदाइको प्रगतिको सुनिश्चितता गर्नु हो। प्रमाणीकरण प्रक्रिया सम्पन्न भ​एलगतै ती सबै बालबालिकाहरुलाई विदाइ गरिनु पर्ने थियो र यसका लागि सुरक्षापरिषद्ले बारम्बार आव्हान गर्दै आएको थियो।
