UDHR Article 4: Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Kathmandu, 5 March 2018- The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is the most significant document, which underpins all international human rights law and inspires us to continue to work to ensure all people can gain freedom, equality and dignity. UN celebrates the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights this year.

To mark this occasion, United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Nepal plans to reach out to the general-public and record them reading their rights out loud regardless of their gender, caste, ethnicity, race, religion, political opinion and other status.

The project will be taking place inside Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur from mid-February 2018 and its publication will begin from the first week of March 2018.

There are altogether 30 articles which has been translated into more than 350 languages worldwide. Article 4 talks about freedom from slavery and forced labour.
