Sharing UN works through knowledge sharing platform

KATHMANDU, 8th September, 2017- The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) organized a program “Sharing UN works through knowledge sharing platform” in UN House.

The main aim of the program was to share the knowledge and experiences through United Nations Digital Repository in Nepal (UNDRN) and build the trust regarding the uses and benefits of UNDRN participants. Inter-Agency IT Task Force, NGOs and INGOs and technical companies were in the program. At the beginning of the event, short description about UNIC and its works were given. Speaking on the event, UNIC gave presentation and shared ideas and experiences on the working of the UN Digital Library. UNIC shared the importances and the benefits of UNDRN. The contributions given by 41 interns since 2014 for content development was also shared during the program.

Further, explanation about the mobile app called “UN in Nepal” was given which gives easy access to the users from anywhere to use the documents. Through the app, it could be easier for any user to know what works the UN has been doing and the number of documents that has been uploaded so far. UN Information Centre has incorporated more than 7.34k documents published by different UN agencies in Nepal. UNDRN consists of documents that were published from 1951 till date which can be searched easily with the use of hash tags and direct search.

An interaction session was also done, in which the participants asked questions and also give feedbacks regarding the digital library.
