UN Information Centre Nepal and Department of Information Hold a Meeting Exchanging UN Knowledge Management Framework

23 June 2017, Kathmandu–

United Nations Information Centre Nepal and Department of Information, Minister of Information and Communications Nepal had a joint meeting at UN House, Pulchowk last Friday. The meeting was scheduled for exchanging knowledge management frameworks with the Department of Information.

Mr. Ram Babu Shah, National Information Officer of UN Nepal, commenced the meeting and the presentation about knowledge management. Technical procedure of United Nations Digital Repository in Nepal (UNDRN) followed right after.

With the visit of Government Officials Director General Mr. Bir Bahadur Rai and Information Official Ms. Suman Bajracharya from Department of Information, the further strategy of knowledge management and information supply of United Nations and Department of Information have been discussed. Moreover, as Department of Information has been planning to establish Digital Information Centre containing government documentations, UN information Centre shared its framework of UNDRN project, especially operational activities and possibilities on assessment of it.

UNDRN is a digital library project of UN Nepal which is the innovative method of distributing information strategically. UN Information Centre Nepal is enhancing its approachable range with the most appropriate and relevant scientific tools to meet the increasing demand for reliable information sources with saving time. Moreover, it provides personalized information searching service online and guidance to the UN library Nepal who are looking for publications and reports of UN Nepal. The primary function of UN Information Centre is to enable the public, journalists, non governmental organizations and students to obtain materials and information of the UN.
